Reduce the cleaning effort of the budgerigar cage

Each of the budgerigars knows how complex it can be to clean the cage. You can make it a little easier. We used to do it this way: We did not completely cover the cage floor with bird sand, but laid it out with kitchen paper instead.

Because the birds need the sand anyway, we filled a flat plate or a flat plastic dish with sand and placed it. This had the advantage that the cage environment remained relatively free of sand, because not so much sand could be whirled up. When cleaning, then simply replace the kitchen paper. Of course, wash out, but literally "scrub orgies" we were spared.

Now and then the birds have gnawed at the paper, it did not harm them. But if you have a bird that wants to kill tons of it, maybe you should be more careful.
