Remove iodine stain on varnished wooden table
A drop of iodine fell on my varnished maple wooden table - a few hours later I noticed the strange dark red spot that could not be wiped away, and then I remembered where it came from.
I put a piece of raw potato on the spot and after a while the potato was gray on the spot and I put it on the spot with the other side.
The potato has absorbed the iodine. I could hardly believe it :-) Raw potato and the stain was gone!
