Remove old wallpaper properly

Especially old wallpaper can be solved badly from the wall. In the hardware store you get to relief a wallpaper remover solution for spraying.

But it is also cheaper with the help of a detergent-water-lye.

It is required

  • spray bottle
  • dish soap
  • water
  • A "wallpaper hedgehog" (spiky roll to perforate the wallpaper) or a craft knife
  • spatula

method

  1. Protect sensitive soil from moisture (eg with non-woven fleece)
  2. Disassemble all light switch covers and socket covers, as well as floor and possibly ceiling strips.
  3. Perforate wallpaper with the wallpaper hedgehog or cut crosswise with a craft knife.
  4. Fill the spray bottle with water and dissolve a teaspoon of dishwashing detergent in it.
  5. Spray the wall well with the lye.
  6. Drink coffee (wait at least 10 minutes) until the lye has penetrated the wallpaper.
  7. Place the spade as flat as possible on a joint edge (where the individual wallpaper strips meet) and push wallpaper off the wall.
  8. Avoid holes in the substrate as far as possible through the filler edges.

Always try to work only one wall, otherwise the water dries and makes it difficult to loosen the wallpaper again.
