Remove stubborn labels from glasses

Persistent labels of glasses can be removed as follows:

  1. Fill the glass with water (if possible one or two mm above the top edge of the etch to be removed.
  2. Glass! UNLOCKED! Put in the microwave and bring the water in the glass at full power to a boil. This can take between 3 to 11 minutes or more, depending on the amount of water.
  3. Remove the glass from the microwave (do not forget the oven cloths) and screw on the lid.
  4. Leave hot water on the glue for 3 minutes.
  5. Label Slowly try to peel off.
  6. Possibly. Wipe off any remaining adhesive with a kitchen cloth soaked in methylated spirit from the still warm glass.
  7. Open the glass and throw away the water.

Unfortunately, this solution is only suitable for removing labels that have been attached with tough, non-water-soluble adhesive.

Compared with the foehn and / or oven method (which I also used in the past), I see the advantage of this method in its effectiveness: less power consumption, with concentration of the energy used on the glass, not on the space surrounding the glass.

Less time in most cases.
