Repair frayed shoelaces

Who has not been annoyed by a frayed shoe lace that can not be pulled through the eyelet? Often, after some time of use, the plastic coating on the top is tattered or missing completely and the shoelace is shredded in 15 threads ...

The remedy here is a lighter: Simply hold the flame very short under the tip, the plastic laces melt on. Blow a little and then twirl with your fingertips. The ends harden and can be threaded "as new" through the eyelets. Attention, always allow to cool slightly (fingertips with burnt-in shoelace ends on it not only look stupid, they also hurt ... hurts ...; o))!

In cotton laces I have already stuck Tesa film around the ends, funzt well (the cotton does not melt, so the lighter trick is not ...).
