Repair loosened / over-twisted plastic furniture handles

For weeks, one of my closet handles annoyed me, because he has relaxed. These are handles made of plastic, which were screwed down with a wood screw.

Unfortunately something must have broken out in the hole, so that I could tighten as I wanted, it was not possible to tighten the screw. I had the handle in my hand almost every time. Unfortunately, I have no substitute handle, so I had to come up with something.

I first stuffed the hole with paper towels, but the screw did not hold up better.

Then the idea came to me to take aluminum foil. I just formed a small roll, slightly smaller than the hole. Then I put it in and screwed in the screw.

Lo and behold, the handle is rock solid and I'm happy again.

Of course it is also something else, but I've discovered this for myself.
