Repair the airbed

Glue hole in air bed - repair airbed

Only a few months after purchasing my double air mattress / airbed with electric pump and admittedly daily use, I found small holes in one of the seams from which the air escaped. The stickers attached to the mattress were unfortunately pretty useless. My husband and I have tried many things, from textile glue to electrical tape and other strong tape. The problem remained and the air escaped.

We also thought about getting a repair kit for bicycle tubes. Coincidentally on television was just a promotion of chewing gum, which gave my husband the idea to try it once. I was skeptical at first because it sounded unhygienic. He convinced me that you could still glue a tape over it afterwards. So we tried and since then the mattress is almost as new!

First chew the bubble gum well, then stick it on the spot and press it down flat. Then you can start directly to inflate the mattress again. After the chewing gum has dried well, an adhesive strip (for purely aesthetic and hygienic reasons) can be applied. This saved us the repair kit. We are both so happy that we really want to share the tip.
