Ringelblumensalbe - homemade

Marigold - a great stuff and inexpensive!

Making marigold ointment is easy. You pick the marigold flowers in the garden when they are in full bloom, preferably in the early morning when all the power is still in bloom and not in rain - only in the sun!

This is always true if you need flowers for home medicine and please do not pick on roadsides because of the exhaust gases.

So the recipe:

Vaseline needs you, who likes can make it with lard too but smells strong.

  • 2 packets of Vaseline
  • 2 hands full of marigolds fresh

This is how it's done:

  1. Make Vaseline in the pot liquid, make marigolds pure and mix nicely with Vaseline.
  2. Remove the pot from the heat and let stand until the next day, repeat the whole 3 times. But please do not let the flowers boil, because then they are fried.
  3. After the third time, strain the whole in the sieve, put the collected ointment in cans. These can be e.g. buy in the pharmacy, there are white pots with red lids. But you can also take empty ointment jars that's just cheaper.

You need it, if you have cuts, abrasions on the skin - who does a lot of gardening - will love it. But also all the others who work with their hands and more often have small injuries!

Holds about 1 year in the fridge.

Also good for our pets, for example, in winter: walk in the snow on the street, salt is strewn and dog feet do not like. Arrived at home, dry the dog's feet, remove salt residue and cream thinly with marigold ointment. Our dog loves it and his paws are always great and he gets no cracks in the bales.
