Season with a low salt

Without salt, many dishes taste bland and lax. And as from my tip "salt - the white gold - how much salt is healthy?" to take, even unhealthy. Too much salt as well.

Anyone who knows how to find a favorable combination of some ingredients or to round off dishes with spicy ingredients or to control the preparation in such a way that it produces plenty of flavors, can do without a substantial amount of table salt.

Examples & Tips

In the carrot-celery-apple-raw food mixes z. For example, the sweetness of the carrot with the bitter spiciness of the celery and the mild acidity of the apple. Chopped parsley, dill or chives and a little salad oil, mayonnaise or sour cream complete this salad harmoniously.

For soups in butter or margarine, steamed grated root vegetables and leek in combination with parsley and savory are salt-lowering. Without steaming, however, the spice effect is not achieved.

Brown sauces obtained by roughly diced onion, carrot, celery, bread crust, bacon rind, tomato, bay leaf and crushed peppercorns a basic spice, which can be varied depending on popularity with juniper berries, some red wine, peppers, hot peppers or curry.

Furthermore, curry is often combined with apple as a seasoning.

Sauerbraten can be rounded off with jam or compotes juice of plums and pepper sauce gets the last whistle with a splash of raspberry spirit.

Of great importance for low-salt seasoning, fresh or dried domestic seasonings such as dill, parsley, chives, garden cress, celery, borage, Lovage, rosemary, sage and marjoram, savory, cumin, dill seed, thyme, basil, coriander, mustard seeds and juniper berries.

Plus, good ingredients are inherently flavorful. You do not have to be spiced up with salt. Processed foods, such as ready meals from the freezer, contain a lot of salt to cover up the bland taste of the basic ingredients. Also be careful when using ready-made spice mixtures - these often contain a very high salt content.

Because you often can not evaluate and can taste how much salt a food contains, here are a few examples in pictures for "salt bombs", compiled by a nutrition expert of the "Apotheken Umschau".
