I think there is no better place to hide outside!
It is best to always have an extra key hidden in case of an emergency, and with this tip, no one will find it so fast.
Of course, it is a bit more difficult to live in a block of flats, but there is also always a small secret corner in the garden where you can hide it. No one will come up with the idea that a key was hidden in this way. Even if one knows the tip, no one will search the whole garden!
I took an empty plastic tube of vanilla sticks, put in the key and stuck a pine cone on top of the closure with hot glue. The tube is tight, no water or dirt gets through, and it has the optimal shape to put it into the soil. At the end, only the pine cones should be visible.
Of course, you can also stick everything up, for example a small stone (something unobtrusive)
