Shaping the canvas: make structure paste yourself

Structure paste is expensive, that's why I mix it myself. For this you need: wallpaper or Bastelleim and paint in equal parts (eg 250 ml each).

That means, in a container, I mix about 250 ml of ready-swollen wallpaper paste (prepare wallpaper paste from the bag according to instructions, is the cheapest glue form) or Bastelleim + 250 ml white wall paint. Then I add fine sand in this mixture until my paste has the consistency that I like for my particular project. Fine semolina is also excellent.

Should it be a bit coarser, I mix under normal semolina. Also rice, sawdust or coarse sand make great structures! White wall paint is very suitable and very cheap for large projects (even small projects have nothing against it, saving is always good). Normally you take water-dilutable acrylic paint. This paste can then be processed as the commercially available. Dyeing before processing is also possible.

After drying, the paste can be painted with any color. Do not allow to dry too fast, d. H. do not lie in the blazing sun or next to the heater. Very thick spots could otherwise get fine cracks, (but you can also later overspray them with paint). I use this structure paste for canvas design, canvas on stretcher. It is also easily possible to "build" structures, d. H. place further accents on the dried structure paste using structure paste.

See z. For example, the flowers on my picture have been placed on the underlying dried paste. Preserved in screw jars, this structure paste is spreadable for several weeks.

Enjoy designing!
