To the smoothie result	Overall, the whole mixed drink was super refreshing and delicious. There are indeed in our smoothie small, fine pieces of ginger left behind. With the Vitamix Personal Blender we have obtained a perfect, creamy and fiber-free consistency. The smoothie was not too thick. Even the ginger pieces were processed really finely.	The Braun JB 5160 has a fine, beautifully frothy smoothie mixed. The mix result was a bit thicker. We could find small, fine mango pieces in the drink.	The smoothie had a nice soft consistency, was also a little thicker and contained tiny, fine mango parts.	There was more pulp left in this smoothie than in the mixed drinks of the other testers. A smoothie, unlike a juice from the pulp is not freed, which makes it really thick viscous, is pureed and also contains plant fibers. If you do not like too mixed drinks, you can liquefy them with milk, yoghurt, coconut milk or simply with water.

Smoothies taste very different: some are sweet and fruity, others rather spicy or a bit bitter. But they are always pretty creamy and are super refreshing! The fruits and fruits give the smoothie not only a certain taste, but also many different colors. Even kids like these colorful trend drinks. Most children demonstratively push the vegetables or fruit off the plate. But they are more tolerant with smoothies. First, mixing the ingredients is a lot of fun. Secondly, the more shades the children mix with each other, the more interesting the resulting mixed color becomes. Finally, the unique taste comes. The fruit-vegetable mixture tastes more intense and not as boring as e.g. only raw or cooked vegetables.

When preparing smoothies, you can process the fruits and vegetables with peel at will, making your drink even more vitamin- and fiber-rich. To the drink also numerous cores can be added. With phytochemicals, minerals and vitamins from the shell and the pulp you improve your digestion, skin color and health in general.

Homemade mixed drinks vs. bought smoothies

The finished mixed drinks often contain a lot of sugar and food additives. The homemade smoothies are made exclusively from fresh ingredients and have a high nutritional content. In addition, the smoothies in the supermarkets need to be kept longer, so they are often heated during manufacture. The heating unfortunately reduces the important nutrient content of all components. Your home-made mixed drink does not need to be heated, as you consume it on the same day or the next day at the latest. The plastic bottles for commercially made smoothies are convenient, but they cause a lot of waste. Another good reason to mix your smoothies yourself. So, take your time for your health-giving smoothie! The Test Recipe: Green Tea Smoothie

We were looking for an extraordinary recipe. In Vitamix's Personal Blending Cookbook, we found such a wholesome recipe on page 56 and were inspired by it:

Ingredients for 2 persons:

• 45 g ice cubes
• 165 g ripe mango pieces
• ½ tsp fresh ginger root (peeled and sliced)
• 1 tsp honey
• 120 ml of freshly prepared green tea, room temperature

Preparation:

First, you should wash your mango and ginger before shredding. Before entering into the container, you get the pulp from the mango and cut into 2 to 3 cm pieces. You can peel the ginger with a peeler. Then you can cut it with a knife into small, fine slices. The next step is to mix honey and green tea in a separate container or bowl. Then you add ice, mango pieces, ginger and the honey-tea mixture in the appropriate order in the container. Close the lid and start mixing. Serve fresh at last and enjoy!

The Vitamix Personal Blender S30 is an elegant, high-performance home and takeaway blender. The device is beautiful slim, very high quality and fits visually in every kitchen. The Blender is easy to use and easy to set up. There was no unpleasant smell on first unpacking. The mixer was delivered with a detailed manual in German and English as well as a great personal blending cookbook. The book contains many delicious and healthy recipes not only for drinking but also for food. The S30 offers two container sizes (1.2 l and 600 ml), a variable speed control with ten speed levels and a pulse function. Both containers are BPA-free and dishwasher safe. They fit in any fridge and have a drip-free spout. The 1.2-liter container is more likely to be used at home for all meals. The special pestle is used to move the ingredients in the larger container towards the blades. The small mixing cups (2x600 ml) are double-walled containers for on the way with hinged lid. They are particularly suitable for smoothies or vinaigrettes. The Personal Blender is equipped with a sturdy metal drive and a powerful motor. The laser cut blades are made of hardened stainless steel. The replaceable blade base is also suitable for cleaning in the dishwasher and fits both containers. The overflow opening on the back of the motor base is intended to prevent leakage of the contents. The built-in safety control ensures that the mix containers are placed correctly on the motor base.

After we put a small shaker on the engine block, the S30 could be started. The ingredients were placed in the container in the correct order. Always make sure that you put the 0.6-liter containers upside down on the engine base. This means that the order of the ingredients is the other way round than with a larger 1.2 liter shaker. In the instructions for this device you will find a very detailed explanation with pictures in which order and in which container you mix your ingredients.

We started mixing by slowly increasing the speed slider to level 10. When we reached level 10, our smoothie was ready. Approximately 25 seconds took the whole mixing process.

To the smoothie result

With the Vitamix Personal Blender we have obtained a perfect, creamy and fiber-free consistency. The smoothie was also good drinkable and not too viscous, as the ingredients contained enough liquid. Even the ginger pieces were processed really finely. In a few seconds, we expected a super delicious and fresh mixed drink, which we could enjoy very much.

cleaning

Since you can unscrew the blade base, this facilitates the whole cleaning process. In addition, it was enough for us to rinse the containers, closures, plunger, cap, blade base and seals with warm water to make everything shine again. Of course, they are also suitable for the upper basket of the dishwasher. We simply wiped the outside of the device with a soft, damp sponge. All parts were then dried and polished with a soft cloth!

criticism

The Vitamix S30 with its many positive qualities really impressed us. There are a few minus points anyway:

• The device is very expensive, but for high quality and produces super drinks!
• The Personal Blender received one more point deduction from us because it works pretty loud.
• Somewhat negative is the fact that the device slips to level 3 and 4. That's why you should stay with the mixing process, so that the device does not run around uncontrollably.
• We think it's a pity that the Personal Blender from Vitamix has no cable rewind.

The Braun Blender JB 5160 looks very attractive and really noble. Although it is not so cheap, the price can be justified by its overall high quality impression. The plastic housing is really stable. The mixing bowl is made of solid ThermoResist glass. The glass is fragile, but still gives no cause for criticism.It is heat-resistant, not very scratch-sensitive and much more hygienic than plastic. In addition, the glass container looks fancy! The device comes with a multilingual user manual, is easy to use, so that even beginners get their smoothie prepared. The Braun JB 5160 has a powerful 1000-watt motor and can mix and mix a lot of mix, including hard ingredients, and mix well. The device has 11 speeds and several additional programs for chopping ice cream, for soups and purees as well as for smoothies. There is also a pulse program that triggers an immediate operational impulse. For hard foods, this program is best. To start a particular program, you must first press the big start button. But that's not all the equipment components of the Braun JB 5160: The mixer has a small extra measuring cup and a handy cable rewind for the power cable.

First, we got the blender from the box. The device had only the typical cardboard smell. When we finished assembling the JB 5160, we started mixing. When assembling the unit, please make sure that the knife is firmly positioned in the fixing ring and that the blender container is correctly and firmly seated on the motor unit. This avoids unnecessary fluid leakage through the motor of the device, which could be really dangerous for the blender. The ingredients were, as in the Philips device, placed in the blender jar according to the same scheme: soft and liquid - first, hard - last! Since our report is about a smoothie test, we turned the motor switch counterclockwise directly to the smoothies program and then pressed the start button. Throughout the preparation, the lid was absolutely firm and tight. The device itself was really stable and has not slipped a millimeter. The program ended automatically. The rotary switch we have back to the position? O? turned. Our smoothie was ready and ready for tasting!

To the smoothie result

The Braun JB 5160 has a fine, beautifully frothy smoothie mixed. The mix result was a bit thicker than with the Vitamix, and we noticed small, fine mango pieces in the drink. These tiny bits did not bother us. Therefore, this was not a big negative point for us. The smoothie tasted it anyway and was really refreshing. Probably you should mix your mixed drink for safety just twice.

cleaning

This mixer is also easy to clean. We filled the empty blender container with lukewarm water, placed it back on the motor unit and tightened it. Then we turned the rotary switch several times to the pulse position. Then we emptied the glass cup, rinsed off and dried. We only cleaned the motor unit with a damp cloth. If you want a more thorough cleaning, you can simply wash all removable parts in the rinse cycle.

criticism

Unfortunately, we have to give some point deductions to this blender:

• High weight: It takes some strength to lift the whole unit.
• The device smells unpleasant for oil during use.
• When mixing the Braun blender, as the previous candidate, a bit loud
• The lid is quite difficult to open. That's why you should hold the glass jug well when opening so that it can not slide out of the hands.

In addition, this promising device has currently fallen sharply in price and now available for 76.99 instead of the original 139.99 euros. Unpacking both Philips devices - the HR2195 / 08 and the HR2876 / 00, which comes next in our review, did not detect any annoying odor. The polypropylene housing is non-slip on its non-slip feet during operation. Its lid, cuff, spatula and knife unit are also made of polypropylene. The shaker is also made of thick and scratch-resistant glass, which also allows the preparation of hot ingredients. The operation of the device is absolutely easy and convenient. The 2195/08 is equipped with a powerful 900 W engine and performs convincing work in crushing and mixing. The mixer's ProBlend stainless steel knives are made of 6 blades and are specially designed so that the blades can easily reach and disintegrate all ingredients. On the front of the device are the illuminated speed control knob.The blender offers several speed levels as well as three additional memory buttons for preparing smoothies / quiet function, for chopping ice as well as for short mixing and for easy cleaning. As a next extra accessory, the Philips blender still has a 50 ml dosing cup integrated into the lid and a practical spatula, which makes it much easier to achieve a more even result. The cable rewind is included with this device as well. It is located at the bottom of the case.

For the preparation of smoothies, we have the ingredients in the shaker in the special order from the manual given: Soft ingredients and liquids first, then the leafy vegetables, hard ingredients and finally the ice. After all the ingredients have been put into the glass beaker, we turned on the HR2195 / 08 and the? Quiet / Smoothie? pressed. The program automatically turns off after a few minutes. After the mixed drink has been finished, we have the rotary control on? Off? turned to turn off the device.

To the smoothie result

The smoothie result from the Philips Blender reminded us of the blending result of the Braun Blender: The smoothie had a nice soft consistency, was a bit thicker than the mixed drink from the Vitamix device and contained tiny, fine mango parts. The only difference was the preparation of the smoothie. It took a little longer to prepare the mixed drink with the Philips HR2195 / 08 than with the Vitamix Personal Blender and the Blender from the Braun Identity Collection. But if you want to make an even creamier smoothie with this device, we can give you a tip: You can refine your drink or the mixed content by turning the turret to the Max position!

cleaning

Since the mixer offers an "Easy Clean" button, it makes cleaning a lot easier. Half of the glass container was filled with water and a few drops of Spüli were added to the water. Then we put the jar on again and a few times on the button for the? Easy cleaning? pressed. Then we emptied the glass jug. The cup was clean again in no time. The main unit was washed off with a damp cloth. Of course, all parts had to be dried afterwards. For worse dirt you can put all removable items in the dishwasher.

criticism

The Philips mixer is really good and we were happy with the smoothie result. But there are also some points that we did not like:

• The manual is not in the usual way, as a small booklet, but opened like a huge booklet. We personally find this format of a tutorial rather difficult to read and understand.
• Due to the heavy glass beaker the whole Philips blender is not a lightweight.
• Just like the Braun blender, the lid of the Philips device is not easy to open.
• According to the operating instructions, the Quiet key allows a silent preparation of smoothies. Unfortunately, the "quiet" key did not produce the desired effect in our opinion and thus missed its promise.
• In operation, an unpleasant smell of engine was created

The small and slim HR2876 / 00 from Philips is very compact, easy to buy for a reasonable price and perfect for 1- or 2-person households. He takes up very little space in the kitchen. Thanks to its chrome housing, the mini mixer looks really chic. It is minimalist and only equipped with an impulse button that you can press either permanently or with small intervals. As long as you are with the thumb on the button, the mixer is running. If you let go of the button, the device does not mix anymore. For optimal mixing, after a few seconds you will take a short break, so that the solid ingredients in your drink can sink into the area of ​​the blade unit. So you can better crush the hard parts.

In our opinion, not only the blender, but also the cups are optically good. The Philips HR2876 / 00 features a handy, portable "on the go" bottle, where your smoothies or shakes can be prepared directly. The SAN bottle is BPA-free. In addition, this bottle with its special lid is ideal for traveling. The 600 ml blender jar is unbreakable and suitable for mixing liquids, pureeing cooked components and blending soft ingredients. The mixer with multi-shredder is also an important accessory of the Philips HR2876 / 00. So ingredients are not only crushed, but also ground. The attachments with the stainless steel knives for the shredder and those for the shaker differ.You must make sure that you do not confuse the two blade units and screw the correct knife block into the appropriate drinking vessel, corresponding to the "lock" lock!

During commissioning, the Philips Mini Mixer does not slip and stands firm on its feet. Thanks to the cable rewind on the underside of the device, the blender is easier to stow!

The assembly of the mini mixer has worked quickly and well with us. In addition, the device is extremely easy to use. For our smoothie, we have selected the cup for the road and used the appropriate knife block. The whole thing was put on the motor unit. We put the ingredients in the bottle in reverse order to the Philips HR2195 / 08 and the Braun JB 5160, as they had to be placed on the blender in reverse order. It is best to fill the ingredients in the shaker at most two-thirds of the total capacity!
By pressing the push button we have started creating the smoothies. In operation, the device has not spread an unpleasant odor. We prepared our drink for about 30 seconds with the exception of short breaks. When the smoothie was ready, we pulled out the plug.

To the smoothie result

Compared to the other candidates, the Philips Mini Blender has a weaker motor output of 350 watts. Probably that's why our smoothie has left behind small, fine pieces of ginger. But that did not bother us, as the other components of the beverage were nicely chopped evenly by the Mini Mixer. Even the ice chips have the Philips? Mini? packed easily! Overall, the whole mixed drink was super refreshing and delicious.

cleaning

Cleaning the mixer did not cause any problems either. If you do not have the time and desire to clean it by hand, you can put the important removable items in the dishwasher. We took the water bottle with the knife block out of the motor housing and filled 50 percent with warm water and a little dishwashing detergent. The parts we have reset again and pressed a few times on the power button. We then disposed of the dirty water in the sink and rinsed the drinking vessel with running water. We simply cleaned the chrome-style case with a damp cloth. The entire cleaning result was satisfactory!

criticism

This little kitchen helper has left us with a good quality impression. But even in this case, some weaknesses come to light.

• The first negative point was given by us that the manual is too unwieldy and difficult to illustrate.
• The volume of the blender is acceptable, but still a little shrilly.
• Another negative factor was that the device does not provide a permanent function in addition to the impulse button. The button has to be pressed manually all the time so that you have to stick to the complete time while mixing.
• For an even better Smoothie result, we would equip the Mini Mixer with a more powerful engine!

With a price of 35 euros, the Grundig SM 3630 is the cheapest and the quietest smoothie maker of all our candidates. He is really space saving and easy. The stainless steel body looks high quality and elegant. Of course, when I first unpacked it, it smelled something, but not of cheap plastic, but of cardboard. The user manual of the Smoothie Mixer is multilingual and well written. The handling of the device is really easy. The device works with 350 watts. The operation of the mixer is done with 2 available buttons. The push buttons? I? and? II? are different intensities: At low speed you press? I ?, at the higher? on? II ?. However, you should not use the mixer for more than 1 minute to avoid overheating.

The 0.6-liter plastic container and the container lid are odorless and tasteless and consist of BPA-free materials. The bottle is unbreakable and very practical: For a smoothie on the way, such a bottle including a drinking cap is a convenient solution. The stainless steel quad knife is sturdy and ready for any mix and preparation of mixed drinks. The beautiful stainless steel case is also equipped with four non-slip feet, which stand the mixer firmly. On the bottom of the device there is a round cable rewind for the connecting cable.

After placing the container upright on the motor housing, we turned on the Grundig Compact Smoothie Mixer. According to his instructions, we first added liquid ingredients to this container in the container.Just like the Philips Minimixer, Grundig's drinking bottle was placed upside down. The SM 3630 Compact Smoothie Maker was really easy to clean. First, we removed the container from the motor housing. The large leftovers from the container were rinsed with water. Then we have 1 1/2 cups of warm water with a little mild detergent in the bottle and this again attached to the motor housing. At high speed, we then let the device run a few times. Then we rinsed the bottle again with clear water. The outer surfaces of the device have been cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. If you would like to clean the individual parts of the Grundig Smoothie Mixer even easier, you may clean the lid and the container in the dishwasher!

criticism

The Grundig SM 3630 Compact Smoothie Maker is both a beautiful and minimalist device. But this mixer has some disadvantages:
