My grandma called it Bruckei, that is to say, in High German drunken.

Grandma cooked malt coffee, sweetened it and added milk. This mixture was poured into a soup plate or a large cup similar to a cereal bowl. Then stale bread was cut into small pieces, and these chunks came for coffee. After that it was already a little hard bread;) was a bit softened, it was spooned, the rest of the coffee enjoyed leisurely. *G*
