Stool made of egg cartons ~ upcycling

Furniture made of egg cartons are cheap to have, extremely easy to build, easy to transport and, moreover, a real eye-catcher. With a glass or Plexiglas pane on top, the Hocher turns into a coffee table in no time at all.

Once egg cartons are used, they must not be re-stocked with eggs for hygienic reasons. Customers of egg pallets are therefore welcome guests at market stalls at the weekly market or in market halls. Who does not want to wait until he has collected 50 egg pallets for a stool, they can also buy cheap on the Internet. If you want to build several stools and a table, you will have to pay around 15 Euro for 300 new egg-boards. You can also put together four stools to make a larger seat.

The stool in the picture consists of a total of 50 eggshell. In order to make it look a bit more exciting, I gave my child and his friend ten egg cartons and four spray cans with acrylic paint. Of the ten painted boxes, I once placed four pieces on the far right, three pieces a little to the right of the center and three colorful egg pallets on the far left of the remaining 40 boxes. This creates a great pattern. For the stool to be comfortable, the flat side should point upwards. However, so that the boxes do not fall apart in this position, they must be glued together with some glue. If you do not have glue, you can use the page with the tips as a seat. So the layers are held together by sitting. However, then you need thick pillows, because the stool is otherwise uncomfortable.

This is needed:

  • 50 pieces egg cartons or egg pallets (for 30 eggs)
  • Acrylic paint or other colors
  • glue
  • Pillow or blanket
