Take care when using (commercially available) drain cleaners
One should, if one already uses commercial drain cleaners, keep very close to the instructions for use, because usually forms when using an acid. It arises when the powder comes into contact with the water (by an exoterme reaction). If too much is used, there is also a great deal of heat, which drain pipes (and possibly also odor traps) can be very bad - if they are made of plastic. While this is usually true only to odor traps that are used in rinsing, but you should not really test what the drainpipes endure everything. In the best case, this gives a grin on the faces of fitters, in the worst case but also schonmal an invoice from the landlord.
