The best Greek meatsteak

Beefsteak, Boulette, Hacksteak or Bifteki. There are many names. Recipes but also! And one of the best - at least in my humble opinion - is the following.

And above all, it tastes a thousand times better than the Greek and that means something, because I love the Greek cuisine and we go very, very often to the Greek of trust!


ingredients for 4 persons

  • 500 g mixed minced meat (pork, beef)
  • 1 onion
  • 1 - 2 cloves of garlic (depending on size and taste)
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 eggs (size M)
  • 1 slice of toasted bread softened in water
  • 4 pieces of Greek feta (LBH: approx. 1 1/2 cm)
  • colorful pepper from the mill
  • Sea salt from the mill
  • 1 grill pan

preparation

In a large bowl, give the fresh meat. Chop the onion and garlic and place in the bowl. Then add mustard, tomato paste and the slice of toast (please express the water beforehand) to the meat. What is still missing? "Eggs, we need eggs!" someone said So clean with it, the yellow, as well as the white of the egg. Finally, season with salt and pepper as desired.

The pan may already like to be hot. As a fat, I personally like to eat virgin coconut fat. It is healthier than conventional, but unlike expected still relatively tasteless and also holds out properly heat. When that happens, the hamburger steaks are now being formed, if possible the same size.

Stop! Not in the pan yet! Because now the feta is used! Press in one piece each in a hamburger steak.


Sauté the minced beef shortly from both sides, then fry over medium heat.

The side dishes are as varied as the mince steaks. I uploaded two pictures. On one side you can see paprika ice cream with zucchini cream and zaziki. Everything made by yourself. On the other Zaziki with fries. Also completely homemade.

To the Zaziki

Please stay away from the finished stuff from the supermarket. That is inedible! A very simple but delicious recipe is the following: You need Greek natural yoghurt, about 400 g, 2 cloves of garlic, and half a cucumber. Chop the garlic very finely / cut the cucumber (washed but not peeled). Now mix everything and cool. Garnish with a few onion rings to serve, done!


The zucchini

Wash them, but do not peel, and cut into pens of about 2 cm in size. Sauté over medium heat and simmer for a few minutes, do not blanch;) Now add the whipped cream, about 200 ml, to the zucchini. Refine the whole with tomato paste, just to taste. Briefly simmer, done. You can also taste it with pepper and salt as you wish.

To correctly indicate you can decorate the plates still fine. Just a few halved small cherry tomatoes on it, a few drops of balsamic cream over it and two more leaves of basil on it.

Believe me: properly flavored and prepared and you will never order Bifteki from the Greek again!
