To posterity leave a greeting from the past

This completely unselfish tip is for house and / or garden owners, Laubenpieper (Schreibgartenbesitzer), house builders, renovators or converters:

Years ago I mentioned in a commentary that a "time capsule", walled in in the cellar floor, in partitions, under patio slabs and everywhere, where you can not even approach after completion, give the posterity insights into the current life. I find the idea very nice that in 50, 100 or 200 years with happiness such a time capsule comes to light again and get the people who live here, a greeting from the past.

Leave a greeting from the past

For this purpose I have created on the occasion of a major renovation on our terrace so a "capsule", which was buried deep in the ground under the floor heating and the floor slabs.

In the capsule, which consisted deliberately of a plastic can (does not rust and needs 600 years to decompose), which was carefully taped and wrapped several times in plastic, lies a detailed account of us, our neighbors, the previous tenants of the house (my parents), our hobbies, occupations, our lives, house remodeling, many photos and the front page of a daily newspaper.

When I told a friend about it and expressed mixed feelings about this project, she said:

In any case, you are still in conversation in 200 years! ;O))

I would have been pleased if I had also found such revealing memories of the earlier years (1945) during the demolition and reconstruction of the house ...

However, a few things came to light:

An old Surig vinegar bottle with corks, some cards from a children's quartet from the 50s, two bottles of perfume, single pages of a novel, wallpaper leftovers from the early 50's and 60 like years, wall fragments with a patterned oil base ...

I made a collage out of it, because I really appreciate such memories and they touch me deeply.

Maybe someday in the distant future somebody will do the same and if not, it will not matter.
