Traveling alone with children - tips

Who travels alone with children, must be prepared in good time and well!

Is the photo on the children's travel pass still up to date?

If you are planning a vacation for the first time without your (spouse's) partner, but with your common child, you must first of all organize a few documents. The passport should contain a recent photo of your child. Often parents forget about it early. If you talk to your 5-year-old child, for example flies to Mallorca, you can by no means show up with a passport that contains a baby photo. The appearance changes with the years, and in some photos it is very difficult to determine the similarity with the person.

Travel authorization of the second parent in minors

Since both parents in the family have shared custody of the child, you should have as a solo traveler necessarily a handwritten and signed consent of the permanent legal guardian. This document is extremely important for passport control at the airport! The date on the letter must be current. The document contains data of both the legal representative and the child (name, identity card passport number, date and place of birth of agent and escort), the destination and details of the duration of the trip. With the signatures of both parents and the city administration as well as an official stamp, the document comes into force and has the following meaning: The journey was already discussed by all sides, the permission of the permanent parent was granted!

International health insurance for you and your child

You will feel much safer abroad if you know that you and your child will receive medical treatment / support anywhere in the emergency, without having to pay for everything! I would also take the vaccination certificate of your child in your place. Example: Children often fall down and have open wounds. In the worst case, you have to go to the doctor immediately. In case of open wounds, doctors must inject children with a tetanus vaccine immediately. And if you have the vaccination certificate with you, can you tell if your child needs this vaccine and has adequate vaccine protection? or not.

What else you need to be sure

For security reasons, you can also take a passport copy of the permanent partner and the birth certificate of your child - and do not forget your own passport!
