Unpack Christmas gifts - with each other instead of side by side

In many families, everyone unpacks their presents at the same time, everyone is busy with themselves and their gifts and you miss completely, as the children or from a self-proclaimed the gifts. It is so nice to see the face of a happy gifted person, when this opens her package and discovered the content.

Christmas in our family is celebrated a little differently and everyone experiences the mess together:

All gifts are legibly marked with the name of the recipient and placed under the Christmas tree (criss-cross). Then we all sit together with biscuits and beautiful music. The oldest person (could of course also on the youngest person or or transferred) indiscriminately looks for a gift, reads aloud for whom this is (and if necessary from whom it comes - that is indeed on the gift) and hands it over Person for whom it is intended.

The gifted person unpacks their package and is then at the turn of a package select to read for whom this is and to present it accordingly. So it goes on and on until the last packet has found its receiver.

The recipient will choose the next package.

There are only two rules:
1. If you draw a package that is for yourself, you have to put it back and choose another one.
2. You must not choose any packages that you give away yourself, but always gifts of others.

For very large families / many parcels, the mess can already take several hours to complete.

Often we celebrate Christmas with friends or acquaintances without family - so far, every "guest" has taken over this ritual afterwards.

No matter how you celebrate - I wish you a merry Christmas in the circle of you dearest persons!
