Vanilla ice cream with hot cherries

Vanilla ice cream with hot cherries: the iAn old recipe, we have always eaten in the 70s for Christmas or other holidays, but today is still loved by the family:

Quantity is enough for 4 portions


  • 1 packet of vanilla ice cream (1000 ml)
  • 1 jar of shadow morels
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • Splash of lemon
  • about 2 tablespoons sugar
  • Pinch of cinnamon and / or 1/2 bottle of rum flavor (who wants to, of course, can take real rum or omit it entirely, tastes even without)


  1. Put the cherries in smaller saucepan with liquid, but pour some cherry juice into an extra bowl (used for mixing with the cornstarch). Bring the cherries with the liquid to a boil, add lemon, cinnamon, sugar, rum flavor.
  2. In the meantime mix the cornflour with the cold cherry juice and immediately pour this mixture into the pot with the hot cherries and then boil it once more. Due to the cornflour the mass thickens a bit, maybe taste again.
  3. Then portion the vanilla ice cream, sprinkle the cherries with juice - and the result is a symbiosis that can hardly be better: tasty, hot cherries on delicately melting vanilla ice cream .... But please do not wait too long to serve it for understandable reasons!
