Waffle toast with cheese

"Mom, I do not feel like having a regular dinner." Fortunately, I do not hear that quite so often, but what do you do if the child does not want the bread? Me saves the waffle toast. Children happily accept this idea and the nagging has an immediate end.

  • Raclette, cheddar or middle aged Gauda

preparation

I like Panini, who comes to a sandwich press in the café around the corner. Unfortunately, I do not have such an expensive device myself. Does not matter, because the waffle iron is doing very good service. The hit is the waffle toast with cheese. For this purpose, the waffle iron is first turned on. I grin on level 2. Since the devices are different, it may be that with other devices, another level is better. Just start by trying out which setting works best. Start with a smaller setting so that the toast can not burn too fast.

Butter toast first

Depending on your taste, simply toast bread, mixed bread, rye or wholemeal bread can be used for the waffle toast. So that the bread does not cake on the waffle iron, the slices are previously spread with butter or margarine. Open the waffle iron and place the toast with the buttered side on the waffle iron. Put the cheese on top and place the second toast with the butter side up on the cheese.

Close the waffle iron and bake the waffle toast for two to three minutes until the bread is nice brown and crisp. The grooves of the waffle iron provide a great look and crispy waffles. It smells delicious, tastes great and looks great. But beware! Do not put too much cheese on the toast, otherwise the cheese swells out and the waffle iron has to be laboriously cleaned. It is best to rub the metal plates with oil before heating the waffle iron.
