Wet and dry towels in the dryer
Since a dryer is a power hog, I use it mostly only for towels and sheets. We do not like hard towels.
But it is often the case that only 2/3 hand towels have been washed and the dryer is not worth switching on, I dry them on a leash.
At the next larger towel wash, which I then dry in the dryer, I do the dry towels in the dryer. They then become just as soft as the wet towels and I find that the wet towels in the dryer dry faster.
This saves you a drum and possibly more electricity.
