When home improvement same distances mark

If you have to attach objects to walls when it arrives at the same distance, such as. with pictures, cornices etc. one can save the exact measuring with the folding rule / spirit level: One marks the point where e.g. the hole must be made on a post-it. On the other hand, you just have to stop it the same way and have just the right distance.

I hope you know what I mean, it's a bit difficult to put into words (as I just noticed)

I have the new curtain rail fasteners from Ikea are installed. Since you have a slot in which you can fix the screw somewhere. It was easier than measuring it with the post-it. Or I would like to attach an MDF board to the wall (see photo). So that the holes are exactly the same, I mark the point to be drilled on the post-it and push with the pencil, so that I lie correctly on both sides? also without spirit level!
