Yeast Easter plait - sometimes without raisins

Time

Preparation time: 20 min.
Cooking or baking time: 30 min.
Rest period: 2 hours 15 minutes
Total preparation time: 3 hours 5 min.

This year I once baked this great Easter plait with raisins and choco chunks, and it has become wonderful. The recipe is quite time consuming due to the long rest periods of the yeast dough, but it definitely pays off. The result - a relaxed, delicious Easter plait!

Although he was a little dark, but still not dry, which I had feared. But next time I'll cover it with baking paper just before the end of the baking time.

For all those who would like to bake this braid, because it not only tastes at Easter, and besides, next week is also? Kleinostern ?, if you know that?

ingredients

For the yeast dough

  • ½ cube of yeast
  • 80 g of sugar
  • 1 pck of vanilla sugar
  • 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 500g flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 200 ml of warm milk
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 100 g of liquid butter
  • 100 g Choco-Chunks (or chocolate droplets)

For painting and sprinkling

  • 1 egg white and 1 tbsp brown sugar (better hail sugar, but I did not have)

preparation

  1. In a bowl, first stir the yeast with a little sugar and 2 tablespoons of warm water, then sift some flour over it and let this dough go for about 15 minutes.
  2. Then add the remaining flour, the sugar and vanilla sugar, the salt, the warm milk, the egg yolk and finally the liquid butter and knead everything to a yeast dough until it dissolves from the edge of the bowl.
  3. Then you make a ball out of it, put it covered in a greased bowl and let it go for about 1 hour in a warm place.
  4. Then the dough is carefully kneaded on a floured work surface and the chocolate droplets are kneaded.
  5. The dough is now divided into 3 equal portions, these are formed into strands of equal length and braided into a braid.
  6. Place the braid on a tray covered with baking foil or baking paper, cover it with cling film and let it rest for about 1 hour in a warm place.
  7. The oven is preheated to 170 degrees top / bottom heat.
  8. After the walk, the yeast cake is then coated with the egg white and sprinkled with sugar into the oven pushed (by the protein he gets a nice shine).
  9. The baking time is about 30 minutes in the preheated oven.

Then let cool on a wire rack before it is cut.

I hope you enjoy baking and enjoying!

The recipe succeeds guaranteed, the yeast dough is quite wonderful, if you keep the rest times and ingredients exactly!
