This morning I baked this ring cake as a souvenir for a visit to a friend in the afternoon. It is a tried and tested recipe, the Gugelhupf always succeeds and tastes wonderfully lemony.

If you like, you can also sugar the cake or spread with lemon icing.


ingredients

  • 200 g butter
  • 250 g of sugar
  • 1 pck of vanilla sugar
  • 3 - 4 teaspoons grated lemon peel
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 5 eggs
  • 250 ml of yogurt, 3.5% fat
  • 350 g of flour
  • 1 pck of baking soda

preparation

Beat butter with sugar, vanilla sugar and lemon juice and peel until frothy. Stir egg yolks individually. Mix the flour with baking powder, sieve and alternate with yoghurt to the yolk mass. Beat the egg whites to snow and bring them under the dough.

Pour the dough into a greased, crumbled breadcrumbs and bake in a preheated oven at 175 ° C for about 60 minutes.

If possible, cover with foil after three quarters of the baking time if the surface threatens to get dark.
