Protect wooden doorframes from cat scratching

One of our hangovers also likes to use the wooden door frame for scratching. Since I would like to attach to these in our rented apartment no scratching boards, or found no solution to remove these unscathed, I thought of another solution:

I bought a roll of decorative foil and stuck it on the frame. In the hardware store I had thin wooden boards cut to width of the frame and attached them with double-sided adhesive tape on the foil.

The result is impressive and our frames are protected from further scratches. I also have a good feeling, if we take off, these strips can be easily removed through the film.
