Trickery with references in the supermarket

In the meantime, it is mandatory to specify the price per 100ml, liter, 100g, kg, etc. for products. So far so beautiful - but even so you can trickle (so the seller) wonderful ... An example: In a large supermarket, there are from a fresh paste the packaging sizes 250g and 500g. The 250g package costs 1.99 euros, the 500g 3.99 euros ... wait a minute, 2x 1.99 euros = 3.98 euros - saving 1 cent. Sure, this is not the world, but now the real hammer - The 250g package is also awarded "Price per 100g - 0.80 €" while the 500g package with "Price per kg - 7.98 Euro" is declared. In fact, the kg price of the 250g package would be only 7.96 euros.

It's all about cents, and with these amounts it's easy to do a reckoning (at 375g, for example, mental arithmetic makes it harder). Nevertheless one should become suspicious, if different reference sizes are used for the same product with different pack sizes and times calculate more exactly.
