Make fruit strips (fruit chewing gum)

If you like chewy candy or chewing gum, you should try this recipe! I make fruit strips to chew, fruit and a little sugar. You can probably take almost any fruit, I've tasted it with cherries, strawberries, prunes and apricots.

I recommend you to make the chewing tin, if you use the oven anyway, so as not to incur extra electricity costs.

You take 500 g of the selected fruits, wash them and if necessary pebble or peel them. Then you put these fruits in a pot (without lid !!!) and let the mass cook for 30 minutes over medium heat, add 5 tbsp brown sugar and stir well.

This fruit mass is now thinly spread on a baking sheet with baking paper and dried again for 15-20 minutes at 180 ° C in the oven. To prevent moisture from building up in the oven, a wooden spoon should be clamped in the oven door to allow moisture to escape.

After the baking time, the fruit plates are allowed to cool and then cut into bite sized pieces. These chewy strips are delicious and those who do not necessarily add extra sugar also have a healthy chewing fun.

You can decorate with these fruit plates and pastry / cake, because you can cut out of the cooled plates well forms.
From my own experience, I can say that children can have a lot of fun making this snack.

You can also develop wonderful recipes just by trying a little. For example, you can mix cherries with amaretto or garnish strawberries with pink peppercorns .... Have fun testing and snacking!
