In South America, "corn" is called? Choclo? known and a common ingredient in many regional recipes. Pastel de choclo is a hearty casserole of minced meat, olives, egg and maize, with a subtle sweet note, which comes from dried fruit and a wafer-thin sugar crust (possibly with a pinch of cinnamon ennobled).

The casserole consists of 5 - 6 layers, where you can easily fall back on leftovers from the lecture or canned or depending on the location in the pantry or refrigerator can be thicker or thinner or can be omitted altogether.   1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees and make casserole dish.
  2. Cook eggs hard or cook corn on the cob.
  3. Prepare Pino: Fry the minced meat in a hot pan with no added fat, if enough fat has spilled out of the minced meat, add the chopped onions and the garlic. When the onions are glassy, ​​add paprika, continue frying. Add dry fruits and a few tablespoons of hot water, season and cover covered on low flame.
  4. Prepare corn layer: Separate corn kernels from corn on the cob and puree with a little liquid (water / milk).
  5. Dice the olives, peel and dice the eggs, dice the chicken meat.
  6. Layer the ingredients in the casserole dish in the above order:

  • olives
  • egg
  • chicken
  • Corn

Mix 1 tbsp of sugar with a pinch of cinnamon or herbs and spread over the corn in a thin layer and put butterflakes on top.

The casserole comes in the oven for 20 - 30 minutes, the last 10 minutes to switch the grill so that there is a nice crust.
