Potato cake with minced meat and frozen vegetables

As a child I always loved the potato cake of my grandmother in different variations and really enjoyed it. Recently I finally managed to make a potato cake (you can also call it potato pizza). Since I was very hungry that day (my stomach was already chewing and grilling before baking), I made my potato cake very filling, with minced meat, cheese and different vegetables.

For the filling, it does not matter which minced meat you take. Take what you like best, be it beef, turkey, pork or mixed. I used ground beef for my potato cake. The minced meat filling with vegetables and cheese tasted great with the potato dough. The self-baked potato cake was delicious and has met my hunger perfectly.

ingredients

For the dough:

  • 200 g potatoes (Annabelle)
  • 150 g of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 80 g of butter

For the filling:

  • 400 g minced meat (whichever one)
  • 1 / 2-1 pieces of pepper
  • 1-2 pieces of tomatoes
  • 100 g cheese (preferably gratin cheese)
  • 1 piece of onion
  • 1 toe garlic
  • 150 g frozen vegetables
  • 1 tsp paprika powder (noble sweet)
  • Salt, pepper to taste
  • 2-3 tablespoons oil (for frying)
  • Dill (or other herbs) for serving

preparation

  1. Wash 200 g potatoes, peel and cut into large slices. Then cook the potato wedges in salted water until soft. Once the potatoes are cooked, drain the hot water and let it evaporate.
  2. Then crush the boiled potatoes with a potato masher. Add salt and butter to the mashed potatoes and mix.
  3. To the buttery fine mashed potatoes slowly add the flour and mix with a tablespoon in the puree. Process the whole thing into a smooth dough.
  4. When the potato dough is ready, you can start with the filling. First I diced a small onion. I also crushed a clove of garlic. I fried the onion and garlic cubes in 3 tablespoons of oil until golden brown and added minced meat. The minced meat should be used in the pan again and again to cut large chunks.
  5. If all the liquid escapes from the minced meat, you can mix in salt, pepper and paprika.
  6. Next comes chopped diced peppers and frozen vegetables. I used broccoli, cauliflower and peas. You do not necessarily have to stick to the recipe. You can still add more vegetables.
  7. The whole roast should be mixed well, continue to remove from the heat and let cool.
  8. While the minced meat was chilling with vegetables, I rolled out the potato dough in the 26 cm springform pan and pulled up a dober edge about 2.5 cm high. A 22 cm shape would also fit well here! In this case you should rather pull a 3 cm dougar! Then I filled the minced meat with vegetables and spread the fresh, thin tomatoes over it.
  9. Finally, sprinkle the potato cake with 100g grated cheese!
  10. Bake in the preheated oven at 180 degrees (top and bottom heat) on the middle rail for approx. 30-35 minutes.
  11. After the potato cake is well baked, you can take it out and let it cool down a bit. You can serve the cake with dill or other herbs to your taste. Tastes warm and cold!

I wish you a good appetite and let you taste your potato cake!
