Braised cabbage with potatoes

My recipe is "Schmorkohl" with potatoes.

For this I use:

  • 1 small cabbage
  • 500 g minced meat
  • Olive or rapeseed oil
  • tomato paste
  • Vegetable broth (powder)
  • Caraway (unground)
  • salt
  • pepper

Preparation:

Quarter the cabbage and cut out the stalk. Then cut the quarters lengthwise into strips. Peel the potatoes and cut them as well.

First fry the minced meat with oil in a large pot on the stove. Then add the cabbage and pour the whole with about 2-3 cups of dissolved vegetable broth. Bring everything to boil. When the cabbage has gone together, add 1-2 tablespoons of tomato puree and stir in with about 5 tbsp olive oil and cumin (if desired).


Now the whole for about 20 minutes on low heat continue to stew on the stove. Season with salt and pepper and stew for another 10 minutes. Taste again whether the cabbage has enough bite strength.

Serve:
For this dish are very good boiled potatoes.

Addition: The amount may vary depending on the size of the cabbage, according to the other ingredients would be adjusted. The total costs amount to max. 4 euros. The dish is ideal for freezing in several portions.
