Citronella is safe against mosquitoes
Citronella oil (citronelle, lemon balm, lemongrass) is available in the pharmacy, it is very effective against mosquitoes and is not toxic.
Just apply to the skin where it could sting. I apply for years and leave wherever I stay, the typical aromatic smell :-)
Depending on the country, it is also available as a spray or essence. Works great! Have tested and rubbed me in an infected area once. Result: 67 stitches only in the face! Since never without my lemon balm!
