Chocolate goulash (creative and super delicious)

You need:

  • 2 pots (one with lid)
  • 400 g beef goulash
  • 2 onions (or a really big one)
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • 1 tube of tomato paste (in case of need also half an egg)
  • strong red wine (you will not need a whole bottle)
  • 50 g dark couverture, grated
  • 4 potato dumplings

You may now think, "Meat with chocolate, that can not taste good, that will not work!". I thought so too, until I tried it. These seemingly incompatible opposites make this dish into a true palate party! And please do not be afraid of the extensive recipe. Actually, it's very easy, I've just described it in great detail, so it also succeeds the first time:

preparation

  1. First you should dab the meat dry, finely chop the onions and heat oil in a pot. Warm up another hotplate to medium temperature (should be so hot that something that is already cooking continues to simmer gently).
  2. Now you give the meat in the pot, fry it for 5 minutes and then add the chopped onions for 2 more minutes.
  3. After you have cleared the whole thing with a good sip of red wine, you can stir in about half a tube of tomato paste.
  4. When the contents of the pot have started to cook, cover it with the lid and place it on the other, already warm, hotplate.
  5. The whole thing has to simmer for about 1.5 hours. You should make sure that not too much liquid is lost, otherwise it will burn. So, look more often and pour in red wine. If you have a very tight lid, you probably have to do very little, otherwise be careful. If something starts to burn it can usually be saved by a dash of red wine and hearty scraping with the wooden spoon on the bottom of the pot.
  6. While you are simmering, chop the chocolate (do not do that near the cooker, otherwise the chocolate might melt) and take care of the potato dumplings at times. Adjust it in time so that the goulash and the dumplings finish at the same time. Dumplings from the pack are ok for me, homemade are of course better, but also much more complicated.
  7. After the stew has stewed for 1.5 hours, you have to work on the consistency of the goulash. If it is too tough, add some more wine and let it boil down as much as desired. Now add the sweet chocolate; she will melt immediately. Now taste the goulash with salt and pepper.
  8. Attention: If you hit the point where pepper and chocolate come into their own, then you've made it! That's the trick of this dish ...
  9. To make it a bit more fruity you could add some tomato paste, but you do not have to.

By the way ... instead of potato dumplings you could of course take something else, like Rice or mashed potatoes. In my opinion, but just fit potato dumplings particularly well, as they are compatible with sweet foods.

Small warning: The dish is delicious, but immensely powerful. So, if you have planned to get rid of this hips with a subsequent half marathon then you better move it to the next day ;-)

Enjoy
