Descale Dolce Gusto coffee machine

To decalcify a Nescafé Dolce Gusto coffee machine, you must use a commercially available liquid decalcifier. First make sure that there is no capsule in the capsule holder and then fill the liquid prepared according to the instructions of the liquid decalcifier into the water tank. Now follow the following steps:

Descaling process step by step:

  1. Insert capsule holder without capsule and press locking lever downwards.
  2. Place a sufficiently large collecting vessel under the spout.
  3. Press the switch for at least 5 seconds until it starts to flash. (Machine is now in descaling mode)
  4. Set the selector lever for the water to hot water position.
  5. Let descaling liquid run for 45 seconds and then return the selector lever to the initial position.
  6. Rinse the water tank thoroughly and wait a few minutes.
  7. Repeat the entire process with one liter of fresh water to completely remove the descaling agent residues. (Empty the collecting vessel before)
  8. Switch off the machine (descaling mode finished)

How often should a Dolce Gusto coffee maker be descaled?

That depends entirely on the hardness of the water used. For soft water, descaling is sufficient after about 1600 preparations. For very hard water, the descaling process should be carried out after about 450 preparations. (Inform yourself about the degree of hardness of your tap water at the responsible municipal utilities!)
