Dyeing lace and fabric: with self-applied plant color

Even touched plant colors are gentle, delicate and go very well with lace and to dye fabrics. You do not get rich colors, but a very nice range of tones that look like powdered.

Here are some suggestions for various shades:

Soaking beluga lentils (the small ones, black ones) in water overnight will result in a brown liquid. The tip you put in there for 2 hours turns brown like milk chocolate. Then rinse the tip in warm water.

Cook laurel leaves in water - this gives a yellow tinge.

St. John's wort in alcohol, corn brandy e.g. The alcohol takes out the red dye.

Spinach and sorrel, boiled in water, color green

Beetroot cooked in water gives a nice pink

This tip is not suitable for garments that are washed frequently, rather for decorative purposes. Sure you can buy colors in bags - but making yourself fun and is also suitable for a craft afternoon for parents and children. First out into nature, collect plants, (there are handy little identification books) then make the color!
