Electricity costs of fans and room air conditioners

Everyone has their means to keep their living space cool. The first few days of a heatwave work quite well, but at some point the heat is just not out. If all sun protection through blinds, shutters and shutters does not help anymore, the offers from the dealer to fans and room air conditioners come just right. Rich discounts await us. The only thing that makes us sweat then is the electricity bill.

Power consumption of fans

Fans have experienced a veritable boom in recent years. Meanwhile, they are available as table, floor, floor or tower fans, so that the selection is almost difficult. Too many models usually do not make a decision easier. The power consumption of the devices is between 40 and 100 watts. As a rule, the power is printed on the rating plate. With a marking of, for example, 50 watts and an electricity price of 25 cents per kWh, the costs for one hour draft are 1.25 cents. If we let the device run for eight hours every day, it is necessary to plan for 70 cents in one week. The fan seems predictable.

Power consumption of room air conditioners

Significantly higher electricity costs, we have to shell out the room air conditioner. These devices eat the current outright. For a product with a power consumption of 1,000 watts come in our calculation example with the daily eight-hour operating weekly 14 euros together. Over a summer, that adds up.

Even energy efficiency class A + is not economical

You should not be irritated by the award with the energy efficiency class A. It is not energy saver in air conditioners, but remains a major consumer. A comparison of the efficiency class for the cooling operation is worthwhile, because there are permanent savings. There may also be differences between the A + and A +++ classes, as between A and B. Incidentally, new devices put into circulation are no longer found below the B-Class.

But if you shy away from the electricity costs for the fan and the room air conditioner, then you will resort to sun protection again. Inboard it is less effective than outboard. So, keep the shutters closed during the day and tear open the windows at night. Switch on other heat sources such as computers or lamps only when needed and who knows, maybe the next installment will be slightly lower at the next electricity costing.
