Make chili oil yourself

Instructions on how to make fiery spicy chili oil easily yourself.

ingredients

  • olive oil
  • dried chili peppers (on 200 ml oil approx. 3-4 pods)
  • glass vessel
  • funnel

preparation

  1. Remove stalks from the chili peppers and crush the pods with the flat knife.
  2. Put the chili peppers into the glass jar. From the bottom of the vessel, the glass jar should be filled with the pods about 3-4 cm.
  3. Fill olive oil into the glass jar using the funnel (note: use a clean & dry glass jar).
  4. Gently shake glass container.
  5. It takes several weeks for the chili peppers to get their sharpness into the oil. To do this, store the chili oil in a dark place.
  6. Shake chili oil carefully during storage time.

Our tip for those who can not wait for the several weeks of storage:

  • Slowly heat olive oil in a pan.
  • Add chili peppers, stirring constantly, heat for about 3 minutes (note: chili peppers may burn easily).
  • Allow the contents of the pan to cool well.
  • Fill chili oil into the glass jar using the funnel.

By heating, the sharpness of the chillies is released more quickly to the oil. The chili oil is ready to use!
