Make plastic zippers smooth again

Hello. I am cycling a lot and now in autumn it is still quite cool. That's why I'm wearing a pair of running pants over the bike wash and it keeps you warm (picture 1).

What annoys me about these pants is the fact that the plastic zippers on the foot, which make it easier to put on, break down relatively quickly: first it jams, then it gets heavier and, finally, the zipper pulls back in and that's it (pic 2).

Since I am tired of disposing of my trousers after a short period of use or of sewing the defective zip as an emergency solution, I now decided to lubricate the zippers with a little petroleum jelly. As shown in picture 3, I smear some petroleum jelly into the slide of the opened zipper, close it and open it once and the thing slips again (picture 4).

With the method, I even managed to make a fairly difficult closure, which had once "jumped", easy again and fully functional.

Of course you have to repeat the lubrication after washing, d. H. always, if it hooks again.
