Make popcorn without burning

Make popcorn with potato masher and napkin without burning.

I have already tried all sorts of variations with popcorn. Most of them work just fine. The sticking point is to remove the popcorn from the stove before coking and at the same time to have popped the grains as completely as possible. The pros have a machine that heats and stirs at the same time.

For normal large quantities (2-3 persons) you can do that with a potato masher, a large pot and a paper napkin.

  • In a large saucepan, add 2 tablespoons of oil, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 3 tablespoons of popcorn corn, mix well and spread flat on the bottom of the pot. Set the hob to the highest setting.
  • Make a small hole in the middle of a paper napkin and pull it over the stalk of the potato rammer.
  • When the first grains pop, turn off the stove.
  • Slowly stir everything with constant contact with the potato masher.
  • The napkin lies over the edge of the pot and protects against the crackling of the finished popcorn.
  • Continue to stir slowly until it only plops from time to time. Remove the pan from the heat and pour the popcorn into a bowl to cool.
  • It sticks together a bit, but it can easily be ripped apart by hand. The popcorn tastes almost like in a movie theater.
  • For easier cleaning, put some water into the still hot pot, let the potato masher, prawn in and put it on the hot stove. Can be cleaned normally later. The napkin is disposed of.
  • Can be flavored with a little cinnamon or vanilla sugar.
  • For a portion you can also take a normal smaller pot.
  • The portion size is different for each individual, just try and customize. Please only one layer of corn side by side in the pot.
