  • 10 tablespoons cane sugar / brown sugar or granulated sugar
  • 150 ml of water
  • Cinnamon to taste

  1. The sugar is slowly caramelized in a pan. Make sure it does not get too dark or burn. When it starts to melt, it's time to stop by the oven and not be distracted by other things.
  2. As soon as it has the desired color and smell, the lukewarm water and cinnamon come to your liking. These ingredients are now allowed to boil together.
  3. When the sugar has dissolved, the walnuts are added.
  4. While stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, let the liquid be reduced until the sugar dissolves from the pan.
  5. Quickly you then give the roasted nuts loosely on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and let it cool down there. The important thing is to spread them loosely so that they do not stick together to a lump.
  6. When they are cool, you can already snack on them. But also filled in screw jars they are a very nice gift to say "thank you" to dear people. The homemade gifts are sometimes the most beautiful I think.

The walnuts can be replaced with other nuts such as hazelnuts, almonds, pecans, Brazil nuts, peanuts, etc. Or you opt for a colorful mix of them.
