Paper lanterns enchant advent!

I tried this crafting instruction years ago and picked it up again this year, but beware: the end product is addictive and great for giving away!

You need:

  • normal, colored paper - also in printer paper thickness (80g / m2) or
  • construction paper
  • Craft template for printing or
  • Cutting file for a plotter
  • strong glue - no glue stick, because it dissolves over time
  • Scissors or plotter
  • Cooking oil or other ...
  • Brush for lubricating the molds
  • Newsprint as a drip tray

and not to forget:

  • Tealights in normal size

Steps:

  1. Select colored paper.
  2. Print the craft template only 1 time and then copy on the colored papers; There are always two templates printed on an A4 sheet.
  3. Cut along the thick red lines; a total of five times.
  4. Each cut line is bordered on the right and left by a triangular surface. Bend these two surfaces along the dashed line and glue them together.
  5. The result is a figure with five tips!
  6. Place the ready-formed figures on newspaper and put a shallow bowl with oil and a brush.
  7. With a little oil, first coat the mold carefully with oil from the inside, then from the outside.
  8. Put the finished oiled molds on a different piece of newspaper for drying.
  9. After two hours, we carefully dabed excess oil with household paper and allowed to dry overnight, with the paper also changing, as the oil drips over the tips.

After the molds were finally finally "dry", the endurance test came:

Lantern without a pedestal on the table - tealight into it and light: nothing gets hot - nothing burns!

Because the lanterns (of course!) Are to be given away in a brightly lit environment on Christmas Eve, I imagine this for the moment as follows:

Five lanterns arranged on a bowl of fir branches (and other deco?) - Dimming / switching off lighting in the room - lighting tealights and then handing them over: I believe that the lanterns will enchant space and hopefully hearts with their rays ...

In this sense, already very laaaangsam many ideas and a huge portion of anticipation on tinkering in Advent! Buy now Creleo 792461 Transparent Paper 42g / m² 13 different colors 70x100cm Dragon Paper Creleo 792461 Transparent Paper 42g / m² 13 different colors 70x100cm Dragon Paper 17,95 ?
