Pear and apple compote

Fruit compote, apple compote - quite simple: Yesterday I got a lot of pears and apples. Since we like to eat rice pudding with compote or something, I made pear and apple compote.

All you need is fruit, some lemon juice, possibly some sugar, water, possibly spices such as cinnamon (everything that tastes good with fruit), a few jam jars and a packet of vanilla pudding powder.

This is quite simple:

  1. Peel fruit, core and place in a larger pot.
  2. Sprinkle fruit with a little lemon juice, add the desired amount of sugar. (Fairly ripe fruits usually need less sugar)
  3. Add cold water to the pot until the fruit is just covered with water. Slowly bring the water to a boil over medium temperature.
  4. Mix half of the pudding powder with about 5 tablespoons of cold water in a small bowl.
  5. Boil the fruit in the water until it has the desired consistency (depending on the degree of ripeness and the variety of the fruit). Now add the custard powder to the pot while stirring.
  6. If you think the mass is too fluid, touch some of the custard powder again and add it. I like to add a handful of raisins and some cinnamon, especially in autumn / winter.
  7. Now you can fill the prepared, hot compote in the prepared glasses. (I always put the glasses in the sink with hot water.) Close the glasses tightly and allow to cool. This creates a vacuum and the compote is almost infinitely durable.
