Tips for a well-maintained clean washing machine

The task of a washing machine is to wash our laundry clean, but the machine itself also wants to be maintained and cleaned. A long life and good-smelling laundry are thanks for that.

Tips:

Avoid smell: The unpleasant scent usually spreads through mold in the inner life, the rinsing compartment or the seal. The mold grows and thrives on moisture. The best way to prevent this is to leave the door and rinse compartment open immediately after each wash. It no longer accumulates moisture.

Clean filter: The filter in the washing machine protects the pump of the machine. Remains of handkerchiefs, or fabric remnants accumulate in it. The filter should be taken out every 2 weeks and cleaned, because here too, bacteria and germs accumulate. Where the filter of your machine hides, is in the manual. Always put a towel under it beforehand, because when you turn the filter out, a small amount of water always runs out.

Clean door seal: When taking the laundry out of the machine, the laundry always comes in contact with the door seal, where it collects every time a small amount of residual water and dirt, which in turn is the perfect chest for germs and bacteria. It is best to wipe the door seal with a clean damp cloth (soaked in a little vinegar water) after the wash cycle just before removing the laundry.

Clean drum: Even if the drum looks clean at the moment of looking, it is not. At all angles, germs accumulate, which later cause the unpleasant odor. It is best to run an empty machine at 60 degrees once a month and throw 2 rinse machine tablets in the drum first. Bacteria are killed and the lime is dissolved. Some just take vinegar and let it run at 60 degrees. However, using vinegar at all times is not that good as the tubes and the inside are attacked by the acid.

Clean the detergent compartment: Anyone who has taken the tray ever knows how it looks behind it, usually there accumulate residues of fabric softener and detergent, mold develops. I take the tray every 2 weeks and put it in the sink, then I let it act for some time in warm vinegar water and brush then with detergent and a toothbrush everything thoroughly clean. Afterwards, let it dry and put it back in place. If you do not know how to remove the tray, you will read it in the manual.
