Washing machine laundry smells musty

For this you have to pick up a lock on most washing machines. (Often marked red or orange.) After the detergent drawer is now removed, take a look into the now open box. The box is white at the factory. Not gray or black. Not infrequently black mold is to be found here.
O.k., how is it to be cleaned? Either you can do it with plastic cleaner and a toothbrush. But it is often tedious. What I have already seen, the box is big enough to clean the interior with a "new" toilet brush. So that not everything is contaminated, one should protect oneself by covering the place with a towel and, so to speak, blindly operating. With this cleaning you have already achieved a lot.
