Weigh wool when knitting socks with residual wool

If I knit a few smaller socks out of residual wool, e.g. for a child, or to knit the heel and toes for new socks, I weigh the wool in advance with the kitchen scale.

When I have a part of the first stocking entangled, I weigh the wool in between again. So I know in time, how far I can go with it and if necessary I can knit the heels and toes in different colors or the tops of the big socks differently.

In this way, I can also handle smaller wool remnants meaningful without having to worry that the residual wool may not be enough.
