Against snail eating on zucchini plants

A tip against snail eating on young zucchini plants:

Again and again we have annoyed us about the voracious snails, which made in the garden over our young zucchini plantlets, of which then hardly anything left. Neither slug grain nor coffee grounds helped, they did not shy away from anything.

This year we had the following idea:

We planted a couple of zucchini cuttings in a 12-l bucket, in the bottom of which we drilled 3-4 holes. In the bucket then came first a small drainage layer against waterlogging and potting soil mixed with some sand, fertilizer and horn shavings, in each of which we planted a zucchini.

And lo and behold, it really worked? we tricked these critters! Probably they did not come across the curved edge at the top of the bucket to the young zucchini trees.

The result can be seen in the photos: Huge, powerful plants with many flowers and numerous large zucchini.
