Baked apple pie - a cake with whole apples


For the cake:

  • 250 g flour
  • 1 egg
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 150 g butter
  • 1/2 pck of baking powder
  • 50 g raisins
  • 2 tbsp rum
  • 12 small sour apples (for example Boskop)

For the casting:

  • 1 bag of pudding powder (vanilla)
  • 725 g of cream
  • 1 pck of vanilla sugar
  • 125 g of sugar


  1. Quickly knead butter, sugar, flour, egg, baking powder into a smooth dough. Put the part in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  2. Wash raisins and let them steep with 2 tbsp rum.
  3. Wash apples and core with an apple cutter.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured work surface to a circle (Ø approx. 30 cm) and lay out the greased springform (Ø 26 cm). Press the edge about 3 cm.
  5. Put the apples in the springform pan and fill with the rum raisins.
  6. Smooth the custard powder with 125 g cream until smooth.
  7. Boil the remaining cream with sugar and vanilla sugar and stir in the mixed custard powder. Boil everything again and distribute over the apples.
  8. Bake the cake in the preheated oven (electric cooker: 175 degrees, circulating air: 160 degrees, gas stove: level 3) for approx. 1 1/4 hours.
  9. Remove from the oven and let rest for approx. 24 hours in the mold.
