An unusual Zewa reel holder

Our Zewa roll holder (stand) was on the sideboard again and again ... somehow in the way ?. Because the Zewa is mainly used in the sink, I've tried something quite unusual, which is now proving to be very useful.

And who, like me, has leftovers at home (I used cotton for this, but it works with every other wool as well), gets this Zewa holder virtually for free and the remains are recycled.

When I was a kid, my grandmother and I used wool cords for a variety of purposes - but never as a roll holder, but that's exactly what I did.

For those who want to do the reel seat but have never made a drawstring, I would like to give a brief guide. It's easy! Even from a lot of time can not be discussed here.

  1. All you need is some wool and 2 scissors (as big and heavy as possible: craft or nail scissors are not suitable). The drawstring in the photo was a wool rest of about 12 meters of yarn. This 12 m yarn I have brought to 3 x 4 m, and laid the threads evenly. If you like and have enough pieces of wool, you can also make the cord thicker. For this one would have (depending on the desired cord volume) just superimpose several threads. Looks good colorful too!
  2. The threads are knotted at one end. The thread strands are now drawn nicely smooth, to then make a knot at the other end. There should be no loops, otherwise the cord looks dirty afterwards.
  3. If you turn the cord with 2 persons (lighter variant, because a helpful opponent is there), then you stand far enough away from each other (string tension) and equal to. To turn a cord alone (as I did it here), attach one of the two knots to a doorknob. The process is the same. So, now you can start turning - preferably everyone turns away.
  4. As soon as the strand has been turned sufficiently (you can feel the resistance), the scissors are hung up and brought to the middle (strand continues to hold nicely tight).
  5. Bring the two knots together, hold them up and let go of the scissors. Now the scissors are starting to spin like crazy!
  6. IMPORTANT - as soon as she stops spinning you should pick her up quickly to stop it, otherwise she'll turn back.
  7. Now the second pair of scissors is used - this cuts off the first pair of scissors and knots the end. Also cut the two knots and make a knot in the end. The cord is ready.

My husband then has two small hooks on the bottom of the shelf (cabinet goes of course) mounted over the sink, so that the Zewa roll is always at hand.

Because the cord appears quite colorless, I stuck as a small eye-catcher the postcard to be seen in the photo on the tiles (with hot glue - which can be easily replaced if necessary).

At the latest now, all "light on - light off" - players (me too) is completely clear why you should turn the light off now and then ... :-)

I wish all those who want to try it "Much Fun".
