Ceramics repair (glued dishes & mouse bite) | TheFruitAndFlowerBasket TV
Whether it is the grandfather's heirloom, expensive porcelain or simply not wanting to spend money on a new service: the repair of splintered ceramics or poorly repaired parts makes sense and is cost-effective in the examples given.
Today I would like to show you how you can visually enhance already glued ceramic dishes or ceramics with mouse bite.
I have:
- Cold glaze hardener and resin
- as well as acrylic paint in the appropriate color prepared.
Furthermore, you will need:
- a flat harness for the cold glaze
- small wooden spatula to mix the cold glaze
- mix a container to the color
- Brush, one per color
As an alternative to the acrylic paint, you can also use ready-made cold glaze tinting in the desired color.
Step by step instructions:
- The dishes should be clean, free of grease and completely dry.
- First, carefully apply the well-mixed paint to the damaged areas. Do this on the back.
- In this example, I apply green and white paint on the damaged ceramic parts.
- Then let the paint dry for 20 to 60 minutes.
- Thereafter, the cold glaze according to instructions 1: 1 blended with the hardener bubble-free and painted with a slight transition to the previously painted areas. Many cold glazes change their viscosity with increasing time when the two components are stirred. This can also be used in the restoration of ceramics in order, for example, to fill deeper damages with resin.
- When processing, as in the video, apply the resin thinly and if necessary repeat after a certain drying time.
- The ceramic glaze should now dry out for about 48 hours in a room where no dust is whirled up. I put the parts in a box and closed the door. After this time, the crockery is ready for use again and is now at max. 60 degrees waterproof.
