Creative lavender - incense, herbal sachets and scented peel

Now it is high time to cut off the already faded lavender stems and flowers. The best time is shortly after flowering, as long as no seeds have formed. It is best to choose a sunny and dry day for the harvest. If it has rained shortly before, it is advisable to wait with the herb harvest until the plants have previously been dried off from wind and sun. In this way you prevent mold growth.

The beautiful, fragrant flowers along with long stems are cut as deeply as possible with a sharp garden or paper scissors. Then collect them in bundles, so always put the flower head on the same side. This makes it easier for further processing. Also, the herb should be freshly processed, because it is still flexible and easy to shape and does not bend so easily.

For the lavender bag you need

  • fresh lavender stems with flowers
  • 1 thin hemp cord or other string of natural material
  • 1 pair of scissors that cuts well and
  • 1 sachet of gauze, tulle / organza, jute or cotton according to taste

Then you assign stem to stalk close together, in such a way that the flowers are beautiful. Here you can also influence the shape of the flower bouquet. I always keep it that the flowers are on top and after them I then align myself with the shaping. If you have enough together, you can already begin to cut off about 1 meter string and to knot this very close to the flowers, in the middle of the string front to knot. So you keep the bundle well in your hands and thus always stays in front where the first knot was created.

Then you cross the threads behind it and lead the strings back to knot them very tightly. The firm tightening is necessary because the lavender loses volume during subsequent drying and then just everything would be too loose and would then slip out.

The knots are made very tight, which looks especially nice. At the end you can leave a loop. Here you can hang the lavender bag well in the closet on the hanger or in the car. So that the flowers are not distributed everywhere, I like to give the little bouquet in a tulle bag.

For the incense you need

  • only the lavender stalks, who likes, can also leave flowers on it
  • 1 thin hemp cord
  • 1 pair of scissors

It makes sense to use only long stems here. These are laid one after the other in the hand and bring them halfway into shape. If you are satisfied with the extent, you can already start to make a firm knot on one side. For this you need several 10 cm long strings of natural material. These are knotted very tightly every few centimeters.

Since the part is later used for energetic smoking (room clearing), it is also helpful to make a handle. Here you take a longer cord of about 40 cm and knotted it tight. If you like, you can attach feathers and beads to the handle.

For use, the incense is left to dry in the shade. If the first part is already burned near the line, you cut off the string coming on it.

For the fragrance bowl

Of course, abundant flowers are lost in the above-mentioned works. Collect them and put them in a pretty lead crystal bowl or other nice deco bowl on hand. If you put them in the kitchen and in the bedroom, the lavender should hold moths.
